A licensed-data marketplace joins the plumbing of the web
Cloudflare buys Human Native, a UK marketplace that turns content into licensed training data, and folds it into the network that sits in front of much of the web.

On 15 January 2026 Cloudflare announced that it had acquired Human Native, a UK marketplace that helps AI developers build models on licensed data, turning messy, unstructured content into something that can be understood, licensed and valued.
Cloudflare's reasoning is about the economics of the web. It says creators once traded content for traffic from search and social media, and that loop is under strain, with tens of thousands of AI and bot crawls for every real human visitor. It also reports that one of Human Native's customers, a UK video AI company, discarded its existing training data after getting better results from licensed content.
Six months earlier Cloudflare had begun letting sites charge AI crawlers by the request. Adding a marketplace for licensed data puts both ends in one place: a way to say no, or to name a price, and a way to sell what is worth more than a crawl. For owners, it is another sign that licensed data is becoming ordinary infrastructure, not a side deal.
